About Me

I grew up in San Mateo’s Fiesta Gardens neighborhood and attended Sunnybrae Elementary, Borel Middle School, and Hillsdale High School. My connection to civic life began early. As a child, I watched my father serve on the San Mateo City Council and help develop a teen-managed youth coffee shop in downtown San Mateo. I also interned or worked for local representatives at the county, state, and federal levels.
For seven years, I covered San Mateo City Hall, public safety, small businesses and community issues as a reporter for the San Mateo Daily Journal. My job was not to tell people what to think — it was to ask tough questions, gather facts and understand all sides of an issue before presenting the issue to the public. That experience taught me to listen carefully, challenge assumptions and make decisions based on evidence rather than politics.
Those experiences gave me an appreciation for public service and taught me that local government works best when residents are informed, engaged and heard.
In my professional and volunteer leadership roles, I have managed teams, budgets and complex community initiatives while bringing people together to solve problems. Today, my husband and I are raising our two daughters in San Mateo, giving me a firsthand understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing local families.
I believe residents deserve leaders who are accessible, informed and willing to do the homework. I approach every issue with curiosity, independence, and a commitment to hearing all perspectives before making decisions that affect our community. My goal is simple: ask the hard questions, listen to the answers and make decisions that put San Mateo residents first.
"I spent my career asking questions and seeking the facts. I will do the same as your next council member — listen first, do the homework and always remember to answer to the residents of District 5."
